Location is fabulous but the staff are what made the Leonardo Hotel Galway exceptional. I organised this trip as part of my partner’s 50th Birthday and to attend the wonderful Tonnta Festival. Not only were we upgraded, the lovely manager Igor organised a lovely birthday surprise in the room. Nothing was too much trouble for Igor or his wonderful team of staff. From check in to checking out the staff were friendly , warm, professional and made us feel so welcome. Our room was lovely and spotless overlooking the river, thank you Igor and the reservation team! The breakfast was plentiful and lovely and the staff were so calm and warm even on a busy hectic Sunday morning, making sure there was plenty of breakfast for even the latest arrival. I can’t acknowledge the staff enough and Una was delightful on check out. Thank you all for making us feel so welcome !!

The beds were so, SO comfy. We usually fight for space on our bed and, inevitably, push eachother off the edge. But that wasn't a problem at all with our bed at Leonardo Hotel. The mattress was like a soft, fluffy cloud that molded our bodies perfectly. Went to sleep in a little under a minute, no joke. The location was very central to the City and had great access to Eyre Square for the Christmas Market (which was our reason for our stay here). The view from the window of our 2nd floor room was pretty. A photo is attached of the view when we woke up in the morning. The shower was breathtaking. They have Rain Shower heads, which are my favourite and are directly overhead and (you guessed it...) rain down on you. Simply divine.

We had a comfortable room with a small refrigerator and a lovely view of the rushing River Corrib. Breakfast was available for an extra charge that was discounted to 13 euros if you paid a day in advance. I am a gluten-free vegan, so I brought my own granola and oat milk, purchased at a Tesco an 8-minute walk away, to eat in the dining room while my husband had the breakfast buffet. The location was ideal! It was across the street from the Spanish Arch, the free Galway City Museum, and the Long Walk. It was also just around the corner from the shops and restaurants of the Latin Quarter and an easy walk to the Cathedral where we enjoyed a Mozart concert one evening. The staff were all friendly and helpful.

The hotel is slightly off the beaten path but still very central, which was a big plus. The hotel room and some of the furnishings are definitely a few years old, and there was some wear and tear on certain items, but overall, the impression was still fresh, and the room was a good size. The price for the room was ridiculously good, and I would highly recommend the hotel to anyone looking to save on accommodation costs and spend more on Guinness instead.

Breakfast was very good, self service and good hot food selection. The staff member couldn’t find my name on the breakfast guest list and was not a problem as it was sorted very professionally. The location to the city with the car park next door makes this hotel a real treasure. Good discount given on adjacent car park.
